Inconvenient Hours Penalty
22 minutes per ride
! Please read the Time Addition Rule before reading this section !
Due to the inconvenience of the hours of certain rides, your run will not be disqualified if you fail to go on any rides that close before the park closes. You are still required to ride them if every other ride has been ridden and these rides are still operational. However, if you are unable to ride one of these rides on a day it is open (and not temporarily closed the minute before closing), you will need to take the time addition for these rides at the end of the run AND the Inconvenient Hours Penalty addition. In an attempt to discourage players from intentionally skipping these rides, this time penalty will be added to a final time if a runner fails to ride any of the “inconvenient hours rides” before their closing time on a day that said ride is operational. On days where the ride is never operational, you will only take the time addition. The Inconvenient Hours Penalty only applies to rides that are scheduled to close before Disenyland's regular closing time.

The Inconvenient Hours time is found by taking the average of Disneyland’s 7pm wait times and subtracting it by the average of Disneyland’s 8am wait times. The wait times are taken once again from Thrill Data. The Inconvenient Hours Addition is a single time: 22 minutes, that is added for however many rides were open yet were not complete. For example, if Davy Crockett Canoes and Main Street Vehicles were open yet you failed to ride them during the time they were open, you will add 44 minutes to the end of your run (along with the regular time additions for these and any other rides.) If periodic ride breakdowns were a factor for runners not going on these rides, if the ride is still broken down by the time of its official closing hours or by the time you complete every other ride, you do not need to add the Inconvenient Hours Penalty Addition to your final time. This ensures that this rule remains consistent with the Time Addition Rule. For example, if Main Street Vehicles reads “temporarily closed” on the app by 2:14pm (its closing time being 2:15pm) then you will simply add the time addition for Main Street Vehicles without the Inconvenient Hours Penalty.

This penalty may seem strict, however it is formed as a compromise to allow more runs to be valid. Simply making runs that are unable to ride these rides due to the time constraint of the hours invalid would not be fair to runners, their strategies, and the uncontrollability of ride breakdowns. For example, if Mark Twain Riverboat were broken down for the entire day, yet right before its closing it reopens and the runner was not able to react quick enough to ride the ride in that short window of time, invalidating their run would simply not be fair. The penalty is in place to allow runners to keep their runs valid in such a scenario. It is expected and encouraged for runners to ride every operational ride. This penalty is an encouragement to do so.
